Non-woven geotextiles have a wide range of applications in civil and environmental engineering and construction projects.
1. Filtration
Non-woven geotextiles can retain fine particles well as water moves from the fine-grained layer to the coarse-grained layer. For example, water flows from sandy soil into a gravel drainage channel wrapped in geotextile.
2. Separation
Separating two layers of soil with different physical properties, such as separating road gravel and soft subgrade materials.
3. Drainage
To evacuate liquids or gases from fabric surfaces. leading to drainage or aeration of the soil, such as a gas venting layer in a landfill cap.
4. Reinforcement
Improving the load capacity of certain earth structures, such as reinforcing retaining walls.
