PP Geotextile Feature

 

Geotextiles are used in association with civil engineering projects and are embedded into the soil to provide stability to the ground surface. The layer of the geotextile is permeable which enables water to float freely through the soil layer without eroding away the soil. The geotextile can also be used to separate soil and reinforce the soil as a foundation that is going to be built on. These thin layers of fabric CAN be used for a wide variety of projects due to its strength and drainage characteristics. There is also weakness that geotextiles have that reduce their functionality. Geotextiles are susceptible to blockage sediment buildup of organic residues fungi algae or even plant roots overtime these organic residues create chemical compounds or slimes that block the pores of the geosynthetic material .geotextile

 

1.Separation

For separation, a geotextile can be installed between two different soil materials. 

The geotextile will help to separate dissimilar materials so that the required soil characteristics can be obtained. 

 

2. Filtration

For filtration, geotextiles are used to allow water to move in both directions in a drainage system and can be used to prevent fine aggregates from moving between soil layers.

When a geotextile is introduced in the soil for soil improvement, its design is based on factors such as:
